ELIZABETH H. (LIL) RING (nee SINCLAIR) January 11, 1922 - October 31, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, in her 92nd year. Lil was born in Wick, Scotland, UK and immigrated with her parents to Tantallon, SK in 1926. She attended the School of Nursing at the Brandon General Hospital in Brandon, MB where she met and married Edward (Ted) Ring. Together they moved to Winnipeg, MB and surrounded by family and friends, had a wonderful 56 years together. Much of that time was spent with their granddaughters at their summer home on Gull Lake, MB. Following Ted's passing in 2000, Lil returned to Scotland with her daughters and granddaughters for a tour of the home country she hadn't seen since she was a girl. She reconnected with many family members and the trip was a highlight of her later years. Lil remained active well into her senior years and enjoyed organizing and participating in activities with the Seniors Group in Fort Garry's Adamar Manor where she lived for many years. Lil moved to Calgary, AB in 2012 to be closer to her family. Mourning Lil's passing, but celebrating a life well lived, are her daughters Lynda (Dan) Dunbar, Patricia (Allan) Schroeder, granddaughters Tracy Dunn and Stephanie (Greg) Charest, and her five great-grandchildren: Simon and Sabrina Dunn and Gabrielle, Lily and Max Charest. We love you Nanny / GG!! Lil was predeceased by her brother Jack Sinclair (in childhood); parents Thomas and Barbara Sinclair; granddaughter Jennifer Schroeder; husband Edward (Ted) Ring and grandson-in-law Michael Dunn. Many thanks to Dr. Eisner and the nurses on Unit 62 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, AB for mom's care over her last days. At Lil's request, no services are planned and cremation has taken place through Heritage Funeral Services in Calgary. Flowers gratefully declined: if friends so desire, donations can be made to the charity of their choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • So sorry to hear of Lil's passing. I always enjoyed visiting her (and Ted) while seeing my Mom (Doreen Martin) when in Winnipeg. She was a real crackerjack and I was always very impressed with the energy she put into things, like running the Adamar Club. She certainly will be missed. - Posted by: Bob Martin (friend) on: Nov 19, 2013
