SOPHIE RUDYK (GRABOWSKI) May 28, 1921 - October 9, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Sophie, at Victoria Hospital on October 9, 2013, with her loving family at her bedside. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Jo-Ann (Les) Oliver, Bonnie (John) Pilgrim, and Wendy (Al) Dybvig; son Michael (Deen) Rudyk; granddaughters Lori Oliver, Sherri-Lynne (Warren) Beekenkamp, and Michelle (Tom) Fehr; grandson Darryl Dybvig; great-granddaughters Meghan Fehr, Elle Dybvig, Katherine Fehr and Samantha Beekenkamp, all of whom she cherished dearly. Sophie was predeceased by Joseph, her husband of 52 years, her parents, brothers and sisters and her beloved little "Jo-Jo". She was born and raised in the North End, where she met and later married Joseph on September 21, 1940. Besides raising and caring for her family, she worked for several years for the A & P Food Store, and later worked with Dad in his lawn keeping business. During that time, they built the family cabin at Ponemah, where she enjoyed many happy times with family and friends. Mom enjoyed trips with Dad to Hawaii, California, Las Vegas and a Caribbean cruise, but most of all, she treasured her time with family, especially her grandchildren and, of course, her furry friends. Many thanks to the staff of Southeast Personal Care Home for their care and compassion while taking care of Mom over the past few years. A memorial service will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street (West St. Paul) on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sophie's favourite charity, The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3, or another charity of your choice. We love you Mom, Baba, Supreme Baba.
