Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPAUL JOHN STRELIOFF Paul John Strelioff passed away at his residence in Winnipeg, MB on November 12, 2013 at the age of 80 years. Paul was born on January 28, 1933, with Dr. Warren as attending physician, on a farm six miles west of Canora, SK to John J. and Polly (Cheveldeoff) Strelioff. As a young boy, Paul attended a one room school called Dnister. He then attended Canora High School and graduated in 1950. After graduation, for a short while, he worked in a Rural Municipality Office under the direction of administrator Alex Kuziak. He then received a scholarship to begin training as a X-ray technician in Yorkton Hospital. As he progressed, he worked in Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton, and finally in Winnipeg. He was employed at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg for many years as an administrator in the X-ray Department. In Paul's late 40s, his health declined to the point that he needed by-pass surgery for his heart. As an administrator, he was proud to be trusted to travel to Europe to purchase X-ray equipment for the St. Boniface Hospital. In addition to his work as an Administrator, Paul taught and trained students in a X-ray technician course in a college in Winnipeg. Paul had many friends and loved to travel to distant places like Florida, Cuba, Mexico and Dominican Republic. He often visited his family and friends in Canora while his health was still good. Paul liked boat fishing and he caught some good ones. In the last few years, Paul's health deteriorated, even with his pacer, to the point that he needed daily care and assistance. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. Paul was predeceased by his father John J. in 1975, his mother Polly in 1988 and his nephew Evan Strelioff in 2007. He is survived by his brother Alexander, sister-in-law Mary, nephew Leonard, nieces Nadia and Lori, grand-niece Shayla, and two grand-nephews Jason and Kyle. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from the Chapel of Leson's Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with the Canora Doukhobor Society officiating. Interment followed in the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan or to the Doukhobor Society as tokens of remembrance in memory of Paul Strelioff. Those unable to attend are invited to sign an on-line guest book at www.lesonsfuneralhome.ca Arrangements have been entrusted to LESON'S FUNERAL HOME Canora, SK (306-563-5671).

This is a long overdue memory. I used to work at the Starbucks in the Safeway in Osborne Village (now gone) and I was thinking of my regular customers. I thought of Paul (or Mr. Strelioff as Safeway employees say. "Call me Paul," he said). I did a google search and was saddened to learn of his passing. He was very kind, and I always looked forward to seeing him. We once grabbed a meal at Papa George's even long after I had stopped working at Safeway. He was really sweet, and even years later, I still remember him. Rest in peace, Paul. - Posted by: Lindsay (Friend) on: Aug 18, 2020
