I was saddened to hear about Mary's passing. She really was a genuine nice person. She never seemed to forget anyone's name. - Posted by: Ian McGlade (Friend) on: Dec 04, 2013

Mary and I worked together at CIBC Portage and Hargrave branch in the early 1980s. Mary was such a hoot to work with and I loved it when we worked side by side. Our friend Andrea Long (Geary) aka 'dear girl' was usually on the other side and we all laughed way too much for the bosses liking, I'm sure! With Mary's wicked wit and mischievous sense of humour, we had a hard time keeping a straight face. She would whisper a little zinger right as a customer would walk up, then she'd smile this sweet smile at us and raise both her eyebrows just a touch and continue on as if nothing was amiss - it was all you could do to keep a straight face. We had so much fun and she was a lovely person to work with, and just a lovely person altogether. I lost touch with her after moving back to Ottawa but never forgot the fun we had. I was so sorry to hear of her passing but know that she will be missed by many.. - Posted by: Linda (Aldridge) on: Dec 02, 2013

I met Mary at the Irish Club shortly after I moved to Winnipeg from Thompson in 1985. Any time I was there, Mary would say "Katie - sing The Old Turf Fire" for me. She was a beautiful, smiling, friendly woman and I am grateful that I knew her. I will think of her every time I sing Old Turf Fire, and will sing it in her honour. Please accept my condolences. - Posted by: Kate Ferris (Friend) on: Dec 02, 2013

I first met Mary in 1970, shortly after she came to Thompson. Next time was almost forty years later, and her radiant smile still lit up the room; and her warm, caring and witty nature, made one feel blessed for being in her company. Our Deepest Sympathy to Ted. May her gentle soul rest in peace. Bernie Comaskey, Ireland. - Posted by: Bernie Comaskey () on: Dec 02, 2013

I was and am a friend of Louisa Sawchuk and it was through her that I met Mary in the 1970's. Mary was charming and lovely and fun, with a winning smile and manner and instantly likeable. My heart goes out to all those that knew and loved Mary, especially her family and friends. The world will be a darker place without her in it. My condolences. - Posted by: Shirley Hain () on: Nov 29, 2013

I worked with Mary Mac for 11 years at CIBC Grant Park and I will remember her fondly. She had a smile that would light up the entire branch and eyes that twinkled like the stars. She had a knack for telling a story and had a remarkable way of making everyone she encountered feel special. Mary Mac was one of a kind and I will remember her always. - Posted by: Ashlee Taylor (Coworker ) on: Nov 29, 2013

Memories are what life is made of, and I have so many of our dear Mary. Dragging me to the Irish Club to meet her friends, always wanting to help out the indigent. Never a frown on that beautiful face. I know that there is an Angel smiling down on me and her name is Mary Spellman. With love! - Posted by: Susan (Karr) Lokken (Friend) on: Nov 29, 2013
