RUBY ALICE HUNTER (nee HUNT) On November 26, 2013, just one day after her 89th birthday, Ruby went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Ruby is survived by her devoted husband David, of 62 years; daughter Beverley Irvine, grandchildren Lorinda Stringfellow (Greg), Greg Irvine (Marina), Brendan Irvine (Amy) and great-grandchildren Lauren and Leven Ruby Stringfellow all from Langley, BC; daughter Cheryl Hunter of Winnipeg; son Bernard Hunter (Betty), granddaughters Shannon Hunter of Winnipeg and Kristi Kehler (Shelton) of Morden. She is also survived by her brother Jim Hunt (Merle) of Neepawa; sister Audrey Brown (Art) of Outlook, SK, and many nieces and nephews. Ruby was predeceased by her parents Sidney and Alice Hunt, brother Wilbert, and sister-in-law Jeanne. Ruby was born and raised in Birnie, MB. She moved to Winnipeg in her teen years and began attending Zion Apostolic Church where she met and married David. She worked at Eaton's and The Bay for many years. Her hands were always busy baking special treats, knitting, sewing and crocheting. Her family will enjoy these treasures for many years. Ruby loved helping out any way she could. Many hours were spent volunteering at Calvary Place, Red Rock Camp and any other church event that needed help. Mom's greatest joy came from nurturing her children and grandchildren. She blessed us all by the amount of time she spent praying for each one of us. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 with viewing prior to service from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the awesome staff at Riverview Health Centre, 3C, who provided comfort and a loving touch to our mom over the past six weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Riverview Health Centre, Unit 3C, Attn: Denise, One Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4.
