RONALD (BULL) BANNON Ron passed away peacefully on November 23, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with Lorraine at his side. Ron is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Lorraine, his two dogs, or as he called them, his boys', CB and Pinto, his brothers Jack (Renee) and Phil (Janice) Bannon, his in-laws Linda Dale, Bill (Kathy) Brooks, Gary Brooks, Val (Alex) Gelhorn and numerous other family members and close friends who loved him dearly. Ron was predeceased by his mother, Hettie Harden, Lorraine's parents, Bill and Elva Brooks and his sister-in-law Valerie Brooks. Ron was bigger than life. He was the ultimate gentleman who would do anything for you and always greeted those he cared about with a hug and kiss. Ron was also a successful, well respected, businessman who founded and was the president of RB Bannon Canada and Bull Marine Services. He was past President of the TSA, past Director of the Toronto Transportation Club and a member of multiple business related associations. Ron travelled the world and loved entertaining, golf and being by the water; but nothing was more important than his wife, family and friends. A special thank you to Dr. Julie Lamb, Dr. Moran De Muller and numerous other health care professionals who cared for Ron with the respect that he deserved. In keeping with Ron's wishes, cremation has taken place. If desired, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. A celebration of Ron's life will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. Winnipeg MB. Always loved and forever remembered. "If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. My life's been full; I savored much, good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief; don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He sets me free." Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • I just googled/searched Ron & Lorraine Bannon as 10+ years passed since I have spoken with them both. I wanted to locate them assuming they were still living in the community here just north of Toronto...instead, I find that the Bannons ventured off to Winnipeg and sadly, I go on to read that Ron has passed. Lorraine, you may not remember me but I certainly remember you and of course Mr. Bannon...I just wanted to say hello to him as I remember how professional and kind he was with our dealings. I'm sad for your loss, and sad that I did not reach out sooner to say hello...my best to you Lorraine, and Mr. Bannon...eternal rest in peace. - Posted by: Adam Palummo (Business Relationship) on: Jan 08, 2014

  • Ron, the world has lost a very special man. Your bright smiles and caring ways you showed during the time I was fortunate to have known you. Each time I see Lorraine, CB and Pinto I will give them a big hug for you. Rest peacefully Ron Bernadette Mousseau - Posted by: Ron Bannon (friend) on: Dec 07, 2013

  • My husband and I knew Ron through the Karley Family. Although we didn't know him well we were able to join him and Lorraine for their 25th Wedding Celebration. It was so obvious how in sync the two of them were but even more so was the overwhelming love they had for each other. Lorraine our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. - Posted by: Willie Moen (Friend) on: Dec 05, 2013

  • It is with great sadness that I learned today of Ron's passing. Lorraine, my thoughts are with you. I have often thought of you both these past years and missed the great times we all had together whether up in Boyne Highlands, Ottawa or Toronto. Ron was one of a kind. He was the sort of friend you knew you could count on in any circumstances. If he was in the room, you knew it was going to be a lot of fun, and a time you would not forget. We shall "keep the faith" for you my pal, God bless. - Posted by: Geoff Wickham (Friend and collegue) on: Dec 04, 2013

  • I want to say good bye to a very good friend. We spent precious times together. Driving on the sidewalks of Antwerp or drinking Ron's special Lemonaide on the Golf course are just a few of our great times spent together. The family always enjoyed spending time with Ron and Lorraine. I know that you are in good hands and a personal request "if you run into Charlie say hi". I am not able to be here with you but my older son Etienne who spent quality with both of you will represent the family. Thanks for being a friend. Love to both of you from me and the Vanal family. - Posted by: Didier Vanalderwerelt (an old time friend) on: Dec 04, 2013

  • Ron was a kind hearted, generous person. Lorraine, you have my deepest sympathy. - Posted by: Lloyd lovett (Friend) on: Dec 04, 2013

  • We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. We do not know you as well as the Karleys but please know that our memories of Ron and yourself are nothing but the fondest. Always, Marty and Anne Riske - Posted by: Anne Riske (Friend of a friend) on: Dec 02, 2013

  • Lorraine, we are so sorry for your loss. We remember fondly our time spent with you both in Cannes, especially our outing to Monte Carlo. We wish you courage during this difficult time. - Posted by: Richard & Elaine Sabourin (friend) on: Dec 02, 2013

  • I remember at one of our customer appreciation events Ron and Lorraine came and it was the year we had impersonators and Ron was speaking with the Madonna impersonator and got his shirt button stuck in her pony tail. We all laughed and had a good time. Ron was well liked, very professional, a heart of gold and will be missed by myself and his other colleagues in the steamship industry. Rest in peace Ron. - Posted by: Marilyn Fredsberg (business relationship) on: Dec 02, 2013

  • We met Ron and Lorraine through their friends and business clients Jim & Denise Karley. We enjoyed Ron's companionship very much. We are so sorry for the loss for Lorraine, Jim & Denise. - Posted by: Marty Riske (Friend) on: Dec 02, 2013

  • As Lorraine's cousin I had the good fortune to know Ron in a family context. Ron was truly the ultimate gentleman and always greeted us with that "winning" smile - making us feel like the only people in the room. In fact, he did that with everyone. And, I witnessed the loving partnership that Ron and Lorraine shared till his last breath. While Lorraine always said that Ron was her "Rock" - Lorraine became Ron's "Rock" over the past several years. Lorraine was one of the most loving, caring, courageous, conscientious health care advocates I have witnessed during my long nursing career. Ron died as he lived - with Lorraine at his side. Ron's legacy of love and respect lives on and we are all better for knowing him. With heartfelt sympathy, as always, Love Barb and Avi - Posted by: Barbara Bilodeau-Shumeley (Lorraine's cousin) on: Dec 01, 2013
