JOHN DAVIDSON FLINTOFT Born January 13, 1924 in Montreal, died on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in Winnipeg. Predeceased by his wife Anne, his sister Grace, and brothers James and Christopher. He is survived by his children and grandchildren: Nancy Flintoft (John McWilliams), Shanly, Stephanie and Matthew Meronek; Diana Flintoft Knechtel (Tim Knechtel), Virginia, Sara and John; Sally Flintoft; John Flintoft (Andrea Mulherin Flintoft), Hugh and Anne. During the Second World War John was a member of R.C.A.F. 440 Squadron. He was shot down in February 1945 over occupied Holland, successfully evading capture thanks to the courage and resourcefulness of the Dutch resistance. A graduate of McGill Engineering, John spent his entire career with Canadian Pacific Railway. In keeping with his wishes there will be no service. Instead, whenever you see a CP train go by, think of him as his great joy in life was to sit by the tracks with a picnic and watch his beloved trains. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, donations in his memory may be made to L'Arche Winnipeg, 111 Regent Ave. E., Winnipeg, MB R2C 0C1, www.larchewinnipeg.org Thank you to everyone who helped him on his journey.
