SANDRA MAY DESAUTELS (nee MILLER) January 27, 1955 - December 4, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister, on December 4, 2013 at the age of 58. Sandra was born in Winnipeg to Charles and Dorothy Miller. Sandra is survived by her loving husband Denis, her son Daniel, her daughter Nicole (Matt), and her adoring grandchildren Noah, Audrey and Hudson, as well as her three brothers Marvin (Raynelle), Glen and Darryl. Sandra enjoyed working at St. Boniface Hospital for 30 years, most of those as a medical stenographer, and made many great friends along the way. She enjoyed vacations in Mexico, baking for friends and family, and most importantly spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren at the cottage. A funeral service will take place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home on Monday, December 9 at 10:00 a.m. with coffee and tea to follow. We would like to thank the home care and palliative nurses, as well as the staff at Riverview for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CancerCare Manitoba. • To my beautiful cousin, my being on the other side of the country I don't always get the news of family passing as soon as it happens. She was a beautiful person with such a kind heart. - Posted by: Jared Sissons (Cousin) on: Mar 19, 2014

  • I worked with Sandra many years ago at Winnipeg Hydro. At the time we were both young and new to the company. She had a great way of making you feel comfortable in the work place and soon we became great friends. She always had a twinkle in her eye & an infectious smile. My condolences to all her family. - Posted by: Arlie Pelletier ((former co-worker at Winnipeg Hydro)) on: Dec 10, 2013

  • Sandra and I became friends 41 years when we attended school at Tec Voc. Sandra is Tyler's godmother and I'm Nicole's godmother. We have been thru thick and thin, good and bad. I moved away to Chestermere, AB, 15 years, we would keep in touch by facebook, I would or she would every couple of months phone each other. We would have a good laugh and even a good cry. I am very very sorry that I can not be there to say good by to my best friend. Sandra I will miss our talks on the phone and our visits when I go back to Winnipeg, you are my best friend, I will miss you. I will cherish the friendship we have, and I will never forget you. R.I.P. my friend, your battle is over, heaven has a great angel. Love you Sandra and always will. - Posted by: ELSIE CARRIERE (FRIENDS FOR 41 YEARS) on: Dec 09, 2013

  • Sandra was a beautiful person, both inside and out. It was a privilege to know her and my heart goes out to Nicole and the rest of your family. - Posted by: Jasmine () on: Dec 08, 2013

  • Sandra was one of the most gentle and kind soul one could ever meet. When she spoke, which was always so softly, her eyes sparkled when she talked about her husband and family. I am so sorry for your loss. I met Sandra when working with her at SBGH in the admitting department and often thought, if I ever were a patient being admitted, I would like to have someone like her be the receptionist as she was always so compassionate and understanding. I usually phoned her before leaving for the Winter months and this year didn't and now wish I did. I wasn't aware that she was ill and this is why this came to me as such a shock. I'm sorry that I won't be able to attend the funeral, as I am miles away but I will be there in spirit. My prayers are with you at this sad time of grief, loss and sorrow. • Sandra is a former co-worker from many years ago, at Winnipeg Hydro. So quiet & shy back then, until you got to know her, and so much fun when you connected. My condolences to your family. May you rest in peace Sandy. - Posted by: Cecile (Le Gras)) Stear (Former Co-Worker) on: Dec 07, 2013

  • So sorry to hear of your family's loss. I met your mom only once but she was quite the gem. Take peace in knowing she fought a great battle and she will be an angel watching over your family until you are reunited. Love Kit, Ken and Kaleb - Posted by: Kit Chepesiuk () on: Dec 07, 2013

  • Sandra was one of the most beautiful people I will ever have known. I met Sandra 30 years ago at the St. Boniface hospital where we worked together for 2 years. We became fast friends and stayed this way to the end. I am so thankful for her many years of love and kindness. I once said to Sandra that her expression of love for her husband, children and grandchildren was so strong that I could see her light up every time she spoke of them. Family was clearly the most important thing to Sandra. I am so very sorry for your loss; Sandra will be missed and fondly remembered by all of us who knew and loved her.
