M. DIANE MAXWELL Diane Maxwell passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 30, 2013, with family by her side, at Riverview Health Centre after a crazy battle with cancer. She was 67. Left to mourn Diane's memory are her children Rob (Chris) Crowley of Saint John, NB, Lori (Angelo) Santoro of Winnipeg, MB, Jeff (Kerry) Lavigne of Smiths Falls, ON and Jason (Deanne) Lavigne of Calgary, AB; the lights in her eyes, her grandchildren Shaun, Aaron, Lee, Olivia, Jordan, Mikayla, Craig, Jesse and Zachary. She was predeceased by the love of her life Jim in 2010. Diane was born in Saint John, NB. She moved to Winnipeg in 1979 and lived both there and in Portage la Prairie over the years. She worked at K-Mart, Reitmans and Ardene where she was a store and district manager until her retirement in the fall of 2011. Diane enjoyed the time she and Jim spent at Miller's Campground. They loved happy hour, campfires and potlucks with their special group of friends. Diane loved to travel and cherished her many trips to Mexico, Cuba, Arizona, Western Canada and trips to her birthplace in eastern Canada. In recent years, she greatly enjoyed trips to Thief River Falls with friends and family. In 2010, Diane battled breast cancer and more recently an aggressive colon cancer. She fought both with strength, courage and humour like no other. She was a hero to her children and an inspiration to all who knew her. At Diane's request, there will be no funeral. She and Jim will be placed in their final resting place together. The family wishes to thank: the amazing staff at 3E Riverview Health Centre who not only took such great care of Mom, but also of them; her many care providers at CancerCare Manitoba especially Oncologist Dr. Ralph Wong and nurse Erin; the angels in the St. Boniface chemo room; and Mom's family doctor Ken Parker in Portage la Prairie. The family would also like to thank her many friends who stood by her in the good times and the bad whether it was a visit, phone call, ride, card or meal. All were cherished and enriched her life. Flowers are respectfully declined. If you wish to make a donation in her memory, please donate to a charity of your choice. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204-897-4665, is in care of arrangements. wojciksfuneralchapel.com "Your memory is our keepsake, with which we'll never part, God has you in His keeping, We have you in our hearts."
