MONIQUE SCOTT It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Monique Bisson Scott of Elie, Manitoba. She died peacefully on November 16, 2013, at the Health Sciences Centre. She was 67 years old. Monique was born on January 29, 1946, in Montreal, Quebec, and subsequently moved to Abitibi (Lamorandiere), Quebec, where her father ran a general store. She and her three siblings lived there most of their early years, attending boarding school nearby until their mother suffered a terrible car accident forcing the family to move back to Montreal. There she met and married Jim Scott; together they moved to many different parts of Canada including Halifax, Calgary and Winnipeg as well as Pasadena, California. Monique will be deeply missed by her daughter Sara Scott, son-in-law Marc Piche, grandsons Alexandre, eight, and Benjamin, five, and Jim Scott of Winnipeg Beach. Also left to mourn are her sisters Louise (Robert) Chartrand and Suzane (Ronald) Bisson; niece Valerie (Jean-Philippe) and children Alexandra and Renaud; as well as numerous cousins in Quebec. She was predeceased by her parents Louis and Jeanne Bisson; and brother Pierre. Monique is not only going to be sadly missed by her family, but also by the many dear friends that she made while living and traveling throughout Canada and the United States as well as by the new friends she has made since moving to Elie two years ago. Her adventurous spirit will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched. The family also wishes to thank the compassionate and caring staff in the SICU and in Neurosurgery at the Health Sciences Centre. A memorial service will be held on December 11, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Please accept my sincere sympaties. So many good memories came back to me, mostly from my childhood. Being the oldest daughter of your grandmother Jeanne, Jacqueline, and 6 years younger than your mother, I did not see her a lot but I remember her very well. Having lost my mother June 15, 2012, I understand your loss. But yes, we do get through... - Posted by: Danielle BĂ©langer (Cousin) on: Dec 08, 2013

  • It is nice to read about your mom 's life, Sara and to see a photo of that smiling face that I remember from when I met her several months ago. I was so struck by her genuine interest in me when we met, and realized where you get your own kind and personable nature from! I am so sad for you that you needed to say goodbye to your mom so prematurely, however continue to be struck by how fortunate you were to live so close to her for most of the last two years of her life. How wonderful for your boys. I am sure you will carry those memories forever. All our thoughts and prayers go out to you, Marc and the boys at this time. - Posted by: Tricia Klassen (Friend of Sara and Marc) on: Dec 07, 2013
