Date of Passing: Dec 08, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHILDA MARY GRAHAM After a short but courageous battle with pneumonia, it is with heavy hearts that the Beiko and Graham families announce the passing of Hilda Mary Graham on December 8, 2013. She was surrounded by loved ones, and will be greatly missed by her daughter Patricia Beiko, her son Arthur Graham and his wife Wendy, her son-in-law Dennis Beiko, her grandchildren Sean, Christopher, Samantha Beiko and Deeandra Graham as well as her great-granddaughter, Jillian Beiko. Hilda was born in Verdun, Quebec on December 18, 1918, and is predeceased by her parents, Private John Jarvis McLeod and Dora Hewitson, and husband Patrick Arthur Graham. She was ten days shy of her 95th birthday. Hilda had many occupations in her long life: hostess, seamstress, hairdresser, and most importantly, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Though an orphan from age nine, she persevered and began building her family when she married Patrick in 1939, who was a sargeant and ambulance driver for the Army Service Corps in the Second World War. They moved from Quebec to Winnipeg in 1961 and settled in Charleswood, where her daughter Patricia and son-in-law Dennis still live. Hilda enjoyed travelling across North America with her family in their old Pace Arrow RV, as well as celebrating the holidays with all of her grandchildren. Hilda retired at age 78 in 1995, a year before Patrick passed away. Special thanks to Dr. Joshua and the nurses and staff of the Grace Hospital for their loving care in Hilda's last days. A memorial celebration will be held on Friday, December 13 at 1:00 p.m. at the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Avenue.
