Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNEST E. GOLKE September 14, 1926 - December 10, 2013 Peacefully in his sleep on December 10, 2013 after a long and contented life at the age of 87. Ernest was the eldest child of the late Julius and Else Golke of Germany and brother to Gerda Treutschke and Ingrid Stoyan of Germany and Gisela Hoffman of North Carolina. Ernest was the loving husband of the late Jean (nee Stengert) (1986). Ernest was predeceased by his youngest son Bob in 1979 and by his brother Walter of Winnipeg. He will be greatly missed by his daughter Rita (Brad) and son Rudy and numerous nieces and nephews. Ernest was known for his kind and gentle manner and his love of gardening, birds and nature. Intelligent and well-read, Ernest was constantly reading and keeping up with current events until the onset of dementia took it's toll. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff and music therapy leader at Bethania Care Home where he spent the last two and a half years. Ernest was laid to rest alongside his wife Jean in Brookside Cemetery, and a private family celebration of his life will be held in January. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St. Winnipeg MB R3C 9Z9. Our prayers should be for blessings in general, for God knows best what is good for us. What a nice gentleman. Loved music and always came to my program no matter what. Hummed a lot of tunes together and he always moved to the music. My thoughts and prayers to the family. I will miss him and his spirit. - Posted by: Ernie Dyck (Music program Bethania) on: Dec 16, 2013

Haven't been in touch for many years but have fond memories of stunts in Emerson during early days of Ernest's life in Canada. Our sympathy to the family. - Posted by: Emil and Irene Treichel (cousin to Emil) on: Dec 14, 2013
