Just stumbled onto this sad news today - Mr. Sherman was a teacher of mine (and Tammy was a classmate) in the late 1970's at Westdale. Mr. Sherman was not only a great teacher but had this uncanny knack (God-given gift) to connect with students by being interested in the interests we had - I love music and Mr. Sherman and I would have many conversations on how Wpg. born Burton Cummings recorded his solo albums - Mr Sherman was a blessing to all he came in contact with. May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). - Posted by: Peter Dakins (Former Student) on: Feb 27, 2014

Dear Louise, Calvin, Darren, Kate and Sophie I was very sad to hear about the passing of your father. During this time I hope that the wonderful accomplishments and life memories will bring your family peace. We will be praying for all of you. I remember when your Dad came to Kate's Grade 2 presentation. I enjoyed meeting and talking with him. Your Dad has left a lasting impression on everyone he met. I would just like to extend my deepest condolences to the friends and family of Mr. Sherman. I count myself fortunate to have had Mr. Sherman as my home room teacher at Westdale Junior High in the late 1980's. He later taught both my younger brother and sister. He will be missed. I died as a mineral and became a plant, I died as plant and rose to animal, I died as animal and I was Man. Why should I fear? When was I less by dying? Yet once more I shall die as Man, to soar With angels blest; but even from angelhood I must pass on: all except God doth perish. When I have sacrificed my angel-soul, I shall become what no mind e'er conceived. Oh, let me not exist! for Non-existence Proclaims in organ tones, 'To Him we shall return.'
