My thoughts and prayers are with you Inge and Andrea. We know that Ernie will have joined the group in Heaven. And, as usual, will enjoy everyone's company. Keep well and I know we will visit in the summertime with Betty and family. - Posted by: Erna Kathryn Martens (Relative through marriage) on: Jan 02, 2014

We will miss you Ernie. In the 4 short years we were fortunate to be your neighbour, we observed and learned so much from a wise man. The comfort of knowing you were there had a value like nothing else. Watching you and Inga in the summer months doing yard work together, going for breakfast and still after 56 years of marriage - working together. You are an inspiration to us and we loved watching the two of you set a wonderful example of how beautiful life can be when you have love. You were a mentor. The many days I felt your careful watch over as we did renovations, hung from a ladder or cut down trees from a wind storm. The over the fence chats about plans for the upcoming year will be missed. I enjoyed our bantering about the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and how you always had that saying 'what can you do' after we came back from the stadium hanging our heads low. You were like no other neighbour and not in a million years would we have imagined how dear you would become to us. Milo will miss your smiling face and the kind soul that offered him many scratches and threw his toys back in the yard (I think he threw them under the fence on purpose so you would come visit him). Inga and Andrea you are in our thoughts. You were blessed to have such a wonderful man in your life for many years. The opportunity to know Ernie for 4 years was too short for us but he will forever leave us thankful for the short time we did. I was saddened to learn of Ernie's passing. He was a truly wonderful person. I always enjoyed chatting with him and count myself as one of the fortunate people who had the opportunity to work with him. His honesty, integrity, ethics and pride in his workmanship and company were always at the forefront of all his efforts. My thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time. - Posted by: Fiona Webster Mourant/Manrex (Friend/Colleauge) on: Dec 30, 2013
