JAMES RICHARD (JAMIE) MACDONALD Jamie was born August 14, 1952, the youngest child of Alan and Doreen Macdonald. He grew up at the family home on St. Mary's Road south of the Perimeter Highway. Jamie attended Mountbatten Elementary School and Dakota Collegiate. Following graduation, he completed an airline mechanics course in Thunder Bay. Until his retirement in 2012, Jim (as he was known) worked for a succession of Canadian airlines, beginning at St. Andrew's airport north of Winnipeg, then moving to Montreal to work for Canadian Air, ending his working career with Air Canada in Toronto. Growing up, Jamie enjoyed playing hockey, camping with family, and times "at the ranch" with cousins Margaret Hansen, Donna Price, Richard and Debbie Ward, Terry, Brad, Don, and Susan Ross (Dillabough). Best friend Ralph Paul and Jamie were quite inseparable, enjoying many escapades together. After moving to Ontario, Jamie's love for fishing found him sharing ownership of a boat and camper with good friend Larry Lehna. Many hours were spent with a rod and reel (and likely a bottle of beer) on Rice Lake. Jamie was predeceased by his parents, and is mourned by his sister Lynn Stevens (John), brother William, nephews Greg Stevens (Leanne), Geoff Stevens (Raena), Sean Macdonald (Megan), and Daivin Macdonald (Leah); nieces Leanne Stevens and Tracey Stevens (Kevin), as well as great-nephews Gabe, Hayden, Ryder, and great-nieces Asha and Eve. Jamie's death is also mourned by his uncle Don Macdonald, cousin become best friend Donna Price (Gordon), cousin Margaret Hansen, and the Ross family. Jamie had a quiet sense of humour and a strong commitment to his work. He will be missed by his family, work buddies, and friends made along life's journey. An informal memorial service will be held at the Ramada Viscount Gort Hotel at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2014. All who wish to share in a time of remembering Jamie are most welcome.
