ELIZABETH WIEBE (nee BRAUN) 1927 2013 In the presence of her daughters, Elizabeth passed away peacefully and gently on Saturday morning, December 28, 2013 at Victoria General Hospital. Elizabeth was born on December 24, 1923, on a farm north of Plum Coulee to John C. and Elisabeth (nee Neufeld) Braun. She was baptized on June 18, 1943 and married Abe Wiebe on July 16, 1950. They farmed at Lowe Farm and after her husband's death in 1980, she moved to Morden. She volunteered at the hospital, Tabor Home, Thrift Shop and church ladies group. In 1997, she moved to Winkler where she volunteered at the MCC Store, Salem Home and Senior's Centre. She moved to Winnipeg in August, 2007, where she helped sew blankets for MCC and knitted mittens and scarves. But most of all, she loved helping her children whenever she had the opportunity. She enjoyed family vacations to Betula Lake, B.C., Hawaii and especially to Churchill to see the beluga whales. She always enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, watching the Blue Jays on television and visiting her children who live in Winnipeg. Elizabeth will be lovingly remembered and missed by her son Norman and wife Lorrie, grandson Aaron, and great-grandchildren, Emma, Logan and Lukas, all of Maple Ridge, B.C. and by her daughters, Carol; Ruth and husband Ron Hiebert, granddaughter Tamara, all of Winnipeg. She is also survived by sisters, Eva Hoeppner, Gertrude Dueck and Agatha Kauenhofen; sister-in-laws, Tiena Wiebe and Mary Wiebe; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Abe Wiebe; two brothers John and Isaac and two sisters Anna and Nettie. Viewing will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Wiebe Funeral Chapel, 1050 Thornhill St. in Morden and at the church prior to the service.
