MARGARET CRUICKSHANK (nee PENNER) November 3, 1956 - December 27, 2013 After a very long battle with cancer, Margaret passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital at the young age of 57 on Friday, December 27, 2013. Left to cherish Margaret's memory are her two children, Angela (Geoff) and Jason; three grandchildren, Andrew; Jenna and Matthew; siblings Abe (Helen), Mary, Anne (Pat), Jake (Linda), John (Shelagh), Tina, George, Helen (Gord), Peter, Christine (Jamie); along with many nieces and nephews; and her best friend Cheryl and many other friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Maria Penner. Margaret lived her life full of love and much laughter. Although the last 17 years were a struggle with her health, she always remained positive - without a complaint. Margaret spent her career as an accounting/administrative assistant at Assiniboia Downs for over 25 years; she truly enjoyed going to work. We believe her dedication to work and family is what kept her going all these years. Margaret spent the last 13 years of her life travelling, vacations south, going to Lac du Bonnet and spending quality time with family and friends. A Celebration of Margaret's Life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Assiniboia Downs Race Track, 3975 Portage Avenue. A sincere Thank You to Dr. Sri Navaratnam at CancerCare at Health Sciences Centre, Dr. Martina Reslerova for her incredible care and compassion, all the staff on the dialysis unit at St. Boniface Hospital, WRHA palliative care team, especially nurse Louise for allowing Mom to stay home as long as she could, and the staff on palliative at St. Boniface Hospital. Flowers gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Kidney Foundation, Manitoba Branch. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204-897-4665, is in care of arrangements. wojciksfuneralchapel.com

I am so sorry for your loss. Angela your mother was a strong, courageous and caring woman. Even though I did not know her well, I do know that she loved her family dearly. She was a wonderful mother who raised kind and respectful children as well as loved helping raise her beloved grandchildren. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. - Posted by: Tammy Gies () on: Jan 04, 2014

I became friends with Marge over 25 years ago thru the race track, very up beat and very positive lady no matter what was going on in her life. I miss my little talks with Marge whenever I would come for a purchase order. My prayers go out to the family. Marge I hope we can have one of our little talks again someday. I will miss you. So sad to read of Margaret passing away at such a young age. I worked at ASD for 9 years. She was such a hard worker and it was alway nice to talk to her. RIP - Posted by: Charlene Cochrane (co - worker) on: Dec 31, 2013
