Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I was terribly sorry to learn of the passing of Roger today. He was friends with my Dad, Paul Wowk, at Gillis Quarries for many years. I have fond childhood memories of visits to his and Sybil's home, and being inspired by his amazing wood carvings. I remember Roger and Sybil as kind and generous, and regret not staying in touch as I got older. My deepest condolences to Sybil and family. - Posted by: Brian Wowk (Godson ) on: Jan 04, 2017

  • I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Roger for a year prior to his retirement. Roger was with Gillis Quarries Limited for over 40 years and was very well known and respected for being one of the finest natural stone detailers in North America. He was a leader in his field and a consummate gentleman, having worked on some of the most significant projects in Canadian history. Roger will be dearly missed but always remembered. His legacy will live on. - Posted by: Jeffrey Dolovich (Co-worker, Gillis Quarries Limited) on: Jan 06, 2014
