YLINH CARLISLE LEE Ylinh received her angel wings at age ten December 16, 2013, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Her final days were spent surrounded by the family and friends that Ylinh had touched in so many ways. Her life demonstrated clearly that quality of life far exceeds the quantity of time one lives. Ylinh knew the importance of the simple, most important things in life, time for all around her, time for her own reflection, time to work, and time to play as child in Cambodia, Vancouver, and Winnipeg. With her courage, she led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. Ylinh cared for and saw something special in each person. She left her example most recently in leading three major fundraisers for CancerCare research and her school. Ylinh's beautiful and gentle smile and her actions wherever she saw need, made her a little heroine to all. Ylinh's life is clearly one to be celebrated and she has left special memories to remain with us forever. It has been a privilege to be her parents, brother, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. The family wants to thank everyone who in any way has supported Ylinh and her family throughout this difficult time, including the doctors and nurses at the Children's Hospital, CancerCare, and the exceptional services of Palliative Care the past two months. Ylinh is survived by her loving parents, Ryan Lee and Nga Duong; brother Luan, as well as her grandparents and many more family in Vancouver, Vietnam, and Cambodia. A memorial to honour Ylinh's life will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Waverley Heights Community Centre, 1885 Chancellor Dr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to CancerCare Manitoba or Bonnycastle School.
