Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Bud was a super guy and a very special friend to my parents Frank and Edna. I do not know of anyone that always was so cheerful and had a good joke to tell. My sister was at the service and she mentioned that Brian had on his mink bow tie and that sure reminded me of Bud. he will be greatly missed as he was one in a million. You just have to think of him and you smile - Posted by: Lynn Wilkinson (my parents special friend) on: Jan 07, 2014

  • My dad Leo Lebel was a good friend of Bud's at Mack Truck in Winnipeg in the 60s and 70s. Bud the accountant and Leo the salesman were a comedy team, constantly laughing and teasing one another. They even looked alike, with the slicked back hair and wire frame glasses. Leo had black hair, though, and Bud's hair was white even then. One favourite gag of theirs was for Leo to introduce Bud as his father to an unsuspecting business associate or Mack customer at lunch. Bud played straight man perfectly, and the gag fooled a lot of people. I remember the sounds of lots of laughter when Bud and Effie would come over at Christmas or in the summer. I'm sure Leo would agree that Bud got the last laugh though, and wish him well. A happy, funny man. - Posted by: Paul LeBel (Son of a friend of Bud's) on: Jan 06, 2014

  • Bud was always there for me. In 1982, as a young businessman I had hired Bud as my man with the "grey hair" to help me out with Mack trucks in Saskatchewan. During that year the interest rates went to 22% and the sales of Mack trucks tanked. I asked Bud "What do we do about this problem Bud?" In classic Bud's humor and poise he said "I have no idea what to do about the high interest rates but what I will do is to come to work everyday and wish everyone a happy and energetic "Good Morning". He did!! That simple gesture was instrumental in keeping a positive attitude at our Mack dealerships during some very tough times! Cheers Bud, It was an honor to call you a friend and colleague. I will miss the "Bud" we would have at the Legion when I would visit Winnipeg over the last 8 years.
