ROBERTA (BOBBIE) VINNELL April 7, 1934 - December 25, 2013 Survived by her brother Ronald D. Vinnell and wife Helen, her sister Allison Lafortune (Vinnell) and husband Michael, niece Desiree Henderson (Vinnell) and husband Dave, nephew Ron A. Vinnell, and cousins in Winnipeg and Mahone Bay, NS. Born and raised in Winnipeg where she volunteered for years as a cub scout leader at St. Patrick's and girl guide leader at St. Aiden's Anglican churches, and where she began a 46-year career in office administration and then commercial banking. Her company promoted and moved her first to Calgary and then to Vancouver where she was branch accountant and office manager for Guarantee Trust until her retirement. In 1996 Bobbie moved to Sidney, BC, to be close to family. She loved the small town life, in particular enjoying pool aerobics at the local recreation centre where she kept fit and socialized with the nicest people. Bobbie will be remembered by all who knew her as a genuine, friendly, and positive person. Her family was her world and they will miss her good nature, intelligent advice, beautiful smile, and support in all their activities. At her request she will be cremated with no service or celebration of life, saying she was always celebrating a good life with family and friends, in particular over the last 17 years since moving to Vancouver Island. In her memory, Bobbie would be pleased to see donations made to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation, 2166 Mt. Newton Crossroad, Saanichton, BC, V8M 2B2, where she spent the last week of life in care of the wonderful staff of the Palliative Care Unit. She wanted her obituary to end this way - "Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye; Cheerio, here I go on my way" - Bobbie Vinnell.
