  • I am so very sorry to hear of David's passing. He was a teacher, a mentor and a friend to me during my periodontics training at the University of Manitoba. David was a gentleman and a scholar. He taught me so many things about periodontics, life and respect for everyone. I will miss him immensely. - Posted by: Sayed Mirbod (Colleague, student, and friend) on: Jan 08, 2014

  • We are so very sorry to hear of the loss of David. We also being from Manitoba could always rely on David for local news, weather updates and stories while at the pool in Portofino in Mexico. Bob really enjoyed golfing with David there two years ago and also all the card games. May all your family and memories help you at this sad time. Thinking of you. • David introduced me to the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba in 2006. His enthusiasm for and wealth of knowledge in periodontics, his erudition and his integrity as a true gentleman are the marks by which I will remember him. Rest peacefully my friend. - Posted by: Edmond Ghiabi (Colleague) on: Jan 08, 2014

  • Dear Cheryl & Family, We are going to miss David. As a student of his and as a teaching colleague at the University of Saskatchewan, I will always remember David’s kindness, fairness and gentle manner. He was one of my favourite professors and one of my favourite colleagues and friends. When I was but a recent graduate and needed advice I would invariably find myself at David’s office door. That door was always open. David always listened carefully and made sure he had considered all options before offering any advice. He was encouraging to new graduates. He kept his students' best interests foremost. He liked a good laugh – and we shared many together in clinic and on the golf course. I haven’t seen David for years, but I am going to miss (but never forget) that great big smile of his. We have lost a great friend. Glad he was a part of my life. Saying a prayer for you and your families. - Posted by: Bob Loney, Dalhousie University (friend and colleague) on: Jan 08, 2014

  • In memory of one of Dentistry's finest sons. A true gentleman, a visionary academic leader, a man of the very highest integrity and a man of wisdom, a highly respected university colleague, a true friend. • We are so sorry for your loss of such a wonderful man, husband, and father. Although we were privileged to know David for only a few years for 2 months a year in Mexico we cherish his memory and really miss him. A life taken so tragically and so soon in his years wakens us all. He was so blessed with a wonderful wife and family that even though it was shortened his life was a blessing and a gift to all who knew him. Please remember us and all the crowd at the Portofino who today on hearing of his passing had endless memories to tell each other. - Posted by: Garry and Anne Hershberg (Friends) on: Jan 07, 2014
