CHRISTOPHER DUNN September 16, 1961 - January 5, 2014 Christopher "Chris" Wayne Joseph Dunn, 52, of Anola, MB. In the morning of January 5, 2014 surrounded by family and friends, Chris' courageous battle with cancer ended peacefully at Steinbach's Bethesda Hospital. Chris is survived by his loving wife Tanya (nee Kocher); five children Joshua, Owen, Phoenix, Corbin and Tess; father Floyd; siblings Elaine (Tim) Logan, Cynthia DuRocher, Mark, Tammy (Gary) Kozussek, and Shaun (Becky). Chris will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and the many friends whose lives Chris touched so profoundly. Chris was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 16, 1961, to Armelle (nee Choiselat) and Floyd Dunn. He stayed in Winnipeg for much of his life making his living at many skilled trades, but none so successfully as his career in masonry. In 1989, Chris' life was blessed with his first son. In 2003, Chris married the love of his life, Tanya Kocher and their family grew. Having successfully managed a large and loving family, they began the operation of a highly successful business, CD RENEW MASONRY. Chris operated this business for several years before falling ill. In true Chris style, he battled his sickness courageously and without complaint. Son, brother, husband, father and friend. Chris will be missed. A celebration of Chris' life will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street in Winnipeg. Funeral Arrangements in Care of Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street 224-1525

  • Thank you for hiring me on in Edmonton and Winnipeg. I know you were always looking out for me. I'm glad I knew Chris more than a couple a times. Specially the times I had nothing (every), I'll miss you bro. Marjorie and Ivor - Posted by: Ivor Baird (Friend) on: Feb 03, 2014

  • Chris was my first nephew, born of my older sister Armelle. From the very first day, Chris was full of life. He has always been the most optimistic young man. When Chris told you something it was always with excitement. You just could not help but get excited along with him. This made him a natural leader. It was contagious, and you just wanted to go along with whatever he was saying or doing. There is a saying in a popular song that says "only the good die young" This proves that statement. Chris I personally will miss you. Coming back to visit Winnipeg and family will not be the same. My sincere condolences to the whole family. Claude and family. - Posted by: Claude Choiselat (Uncle) on: Jan 12, 2014

  • The Chris I knew was a kind, enthusiastic, and vibrant person who loved life. I remember a quote he told me he liked about adversity, “That which does not kill us makes us stronger” by Friedrich Nietzsche. He was resilient and determined. His upbeat attitude was contagious and inspiring. I send my deepest condolences to his beloved wife, Tanya, his children, and his siblings; Tammy, Shaun, Elaine, Cindy, and Mark. I am sure that you will miss him deeply and rejoice in his memory and the sweet legacy of uplifting philosophies he left behind. R.I.P. Chris. - Posted by: Janet Sandulak (aunt) on: Jan 11, 2014

  • I worked (and as a result played) with Chris for many years and was blessed to know him. He always made me smile! I will miss him dearly. My heart goes out to Tanya, his brother Mark and their family. Love ya Chris! - Posted by: Leo Camirand (Friend) on: Jan 10, 2014

  • To Tanya, Joshua, Owen, Phoenix, Corbin, Tess. Our thoughts are with you at this sad time. With sympathy, the Wastle family. - Posted by: Susanne Wastle ((children are classmates at Anola School)) on: Jan 08, 2014

  • I was introduced to Chris in 2006 thru a mutual business associate and immediately realized what a unique acceptance and perception Chris had of his journey thru life. When I commented on his business acumen and passion to his trade, he shared that he had adapted the practice that "Work is Love made Visible" from the writings of Kahlil Gibran. I trust that Chris' family can be comforted thru this loss by the same wisdom and insight to life that he truly "lived each day" and most assuredly instilled in them in his time here on earth. Chris will be sorrowfully missed....yet fondly remembered always. Lou Anna Roberts - Posted by: Lou Anna Roberts , GENIVAR Consultants (Business client of Chris + Renew Masonry) on: Jan 07, 2014

  • Chris will be greatly missed. He was a great guy who loved his family and his family extended to many people (not just blood). I was so glad for the several years that I got to know Chris and spend time with him and his wife Tanya. He was generous to a fault, loved life, loved animals, loved toys and especially his fireworks. I don't have a single memory that doesn't make me smile. We'll miss you. - Posted by: Sandy Alexander (Friend) on: Jan 07, 2014

  • Chris taught my kids the extended game of high five... And every time we play they say "Let's do it like Uncle Chris does" High five On the side In the hole Down low.... Too slow joe!! And if you don't call them joe, you're in trouble!! - Posted by: Sabrina (Niece) on: Jan 07, 2014
