HELEN PATRICIA
Born: Nov 26, 1926
Date of Passing: Jan 03, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN PATRICIA MacDIARMID (nee ALWARD) November 26, 1926 - January 3, 2014 With deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our wonderful wife and mother. Helen was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, graduated in nursing from the Winnipeg General Hospital (1955) and became an early Trans Canada Airline stewardess before marrying husband John and becoming the loving mother of Anne (Genoa, Italy), Pat (Vancouver), and Donald (New York, with wife Anna). Since 1990, Helen and John have lived in retirement in beautiful Brentwood Bay, British Columbia. We will keep in our hearts Helen's loving and social spirit and never forget the way she always reached out to others with warmth and encouragement. Family would like to thank the many friends and neighbours who have been so kind and helpful. A celebration of Helen's life will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive, Saanich, BC. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to The Mustard Seed, The Arthritis Society, or a charity of choice.

So sad to learn, years later, of your mother's passing. That beautiful photograph of her brought back so many happy memories of time spent in your Glengarry house. Your parents were special people and so kind to me. Anne. John, Ann, Pat and Don, our deepest sympathy on Helen's passing. I have been lucky to know John and Helen as family friends of my in-laws Jack and Doreen MacDonald. You were so kind to Janice and I taking us out for dinner and making us feel welcome when we had first moved to Vancouver in the mid eighties, and we have many memories of events like the Burns Dinner and gatherings at the Macs. I went through school or at least part way through with Pat and worked many long hours with Don. All of you share a genuine decency and kindness that was always evident in Helen. Our hearts are a little heavier knowing of her passing, but we are better off for having known her. - Posted by: Ian and Janice Park (Family friends) on: Jan 30, 2014

I am holding you all in thought and heart. Helen shone such a bright and beautiful light. I remember her kindness and attentiveness as I navigated my way confusing through adolescence with dear Pat. She was so very welcoming and always initiated fascinating conversations. I'm grateful for having encountered her. - Posted by: Jaik Josephson (family friend) on: Jan 11, 2014
