HEATHER MAY GLEASON
Born: Sep 14, 1933
Date of Passing: Oct 25, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHEATHER MAY GLEASON Heather Gleason passed away on October 25, 2013 in Neepawa, Manitoba following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Heather was born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario on September 14, 1933, to the late Charles Desson and Viola Margaret Liddle (nee McNiece). Following her early years in Sioux Lookout she headed to Winnipeg - graduating from Grace Hospital as a Registered Nurse in 1954. After moving to The Pas for her first posting she met and married Allan Gleason in 1956; and together they raised three children. Heather's first post as a public health nurse began a dedicated career that included many years at St. Anthony's General Hospital and her last post as head nurse at McGillivray Care Home. On retirement Heather and Allan enjoyed winters in Texas and summers at Rocky Lake; relocating to Winnipeg (1992); and then Neepawa (2007). Heather was loved by many and is sorely missed by her husband Allan of Neepawa, their three children Rob Gleason (Susan) of Smithers, BC; Ron Gleason of Edmonton, AB; Elizabeth Gleason of Winnipeg, MB; and Heather's brother Bruce Liddle (Lorna) of Neepawa. We grieve, as do all who knew her. The family would sincerely like to thank the staff of Country Meadows Care Home and the staff of ARHA Home Care for their compassionate and caring attention. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to all their friends for their kind and comforting words and for the donations made in Heather's name. Thank you! A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Condolences from the McNeice (it's a long story) family from the other side of the pond. Sounds like a great lady and I wish I had met her. - Posted by: Rob Clarke (Liverpool, England) (3rd cousin) on: Jan 14, 2014

When Heather was about 24 years and I was about 12 years old my family traveled from Seattle, WA, USA to Sioux Lookout, Ont for Grandma and Grandpa McNiece's 50th Anniversary. At the time the Mickey Mouse Club was the big television thing for kids in the States, though Sioux didn't have TV reception. I had brought the Mickey Mouse Club Ears that I was so proud of. Heather wore my mouse ears around all week. We had so much fun ice skating and sledding and all her friends teased her about the ears. She did let me take them home with me. - Posted by: Shannon McNiece Smith (Cousin) on: Jan 12, 2014
