Condolences & Memories (17 entries)

  • My sincerest condolences to Jayme and Mathew. Your mom was a bright light and ever willing to help when asked. I only knew her for a brief time at DLC however she was one of the first residents I got to know and I truly appreciated how she took me under her wing on my second shift (a Saturday, working alone), introduced me to other residents and helped with the weekend activities. I know she is in a better place, breathing freely. Rest in Peace Brenda! - Posted by: Kim Wark () on: Feb 02, 2014

  • Fred and I met Brenda more than 30 years ago; Jayme was still a baby and Matthew was around 2. Fred met her through Alcoholics Anonymous, and they got along well, becoming friends. Late one night, she phoned to say she was very ill. Fred took her to Emergency and I stayed to take care of Jayme and Matthew. It was a rough time for her as the result was several hospital visits, premature discharges, etc. and she stayed with us for a short time while recovering. We became good friends and they were like family to us. In fact, she spoke about that at Fred's funeral. Life did not always treat Brenda fairly, yet she held no grudges. She gave and gave and gave wherever she saw a need. Brenda was a very giving person; she would feed whoever came along, even when she had very little to give. At one of those times, she even put on a birthday party for Fred, inviting a number of their mutual AA friends. It was a really nice party. She was a good cook and had prepared a terrific spread (which was very much appreciated) A person so giving also needs support. We took her to doctors appointments, etc. and had her and her family over for meals and Christmas celebrations and other social times. She was so much fun! I will miss her very much. - Posted by: Tina Cameron (Very close friend) on: Jan 23, 2014

  • My deepest sympathies to Jayme-Lyn and Matt. Brenda was a very nice lady. In the short time I knew her always had a smile on her face and something nice or funny to say. Rest in peace. God bless. - Posted by: Sheri Sudfeld () on: Jan 14, 2014

  • I will always remember Brenda's scooter being all decked out for the different Holidays. Brenda was such a kind person, very social. I will always remember her lovely family that always came to visit her. The way Brenda was I thought she'd been at Deer Lodge for ten years because she was so social and knew everybody. You'd mention Brenda's name and everyone knew her at Deer Lodge. Rest In Peace Brenda. - Posted by: Janine (Friend) on: Jan 14, 2014

  • Our Family met Brenda when our Mother Maria was also at the Deer Lodge Centre. Brenda helped our Mother in different courses of our Mother's time there. Brenda was a friend to our Mother Maria and a friend to our Family. Brenda you are a wonderful person, you did many wonderful things for the rest of your friends at the centre. We want to say THANK YOU for looking after Mom. You and your Family will be remembered in our prayers and thoughts. Rest in peace Brenda. - Posted by: Camara Family (Friend) on: Jan 13, 2014

  • I only knew Brenda about 4 years, when I started volunteering at Deer Lodge. Brenda was always smiling, decorating her scooter, no matter what occasion it was, or even if there was no special occasion, her scooter was most likely decorated. Brenda & I had the same birthday, May 3rd, but she was eight years older than I. she was a special friend, that I could talk to about almost anything, she always had the right advice, it seemed. Deer Lodge won't seem the same without Brenda. God wanted her up there, she's a special Angel, who will be missed here on earth. I miss you already & it's only been a few days. Breathe easy now, Brenda, your job here on earth is done, but you will be missed by all who knew you. God Bless You xoxo J.R. - Posted by: J.R. Or Julie Rowbotham (Friend) on: Jan 13, 2014
