ROY ENBERG
Born: Apr 24, 1931
Date of Passing: Jan 09, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROY ENBERG April 24, 1931 - January 9, 2014 Peacefully, after struggling with Alzheimer's, Dad passed away on January 9, 2014. He was born on the homestead in Inwood, where parents Emil and Hildur raised Dad and his siblings - Enid, Edward, Joyce and Alice. At age 17, Dad began with the CN Railroad, working throughout Ontario and Manitoba. Trained in communications, he learned to use the telegraph and Morse code. He spent his entire career with the C.N.R., finally retiring in 1987, after 39 years of service. He met his lifelong partner, Noella Petersen, when they were growing up in the Interlake. They married June 5, 1954 and settled in Winnipeg. They spent many happy years raising their family in Windsor Park. After retirement, Dad and Mom were able to make several memorable trips, including Denmark, Mexico, and the West and East coasts of Canada. Dad was a man of simple pleasures. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling at the Club Laverendrye, and spending time with family and friends. He was a fan of the Blue Jays and enjoyed going to Manitoba Moose games. In his later years, Dad so enjoyed the company of his granddaughters and was proud to welcome his grandson in 2007. Roy is survived by his loving wife, Noella, his daughter, Corrine Chia, and son Ron (Jackie). He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren - Margo, Marah, and Sullivan. He is also survived by his baby sister, Alice Peterson and a loving extended family. Our family would like to thank the staff at Oakview Place for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. A celebration of Dad's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, at Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main St.

Ron, Corrine and Mrs. Enberg, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your father and husband. He was a fine man. I will always remember how he made me feel welcome in your home. No matter what time of the day or night I would drop by, he would greet me with a smile and a joke. Mr. Enberg was one of a kind and will be missed. I believe I worked with Roy at the W.I. CNR telegraph office in Winnipeg about 45 years ago. He was a very nice man and I can still remember how kind he was to me just starting my first job. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Doris (Gall) Wegwitz (friend) on: Jan 28, 2014
