JOSEPHINE (JOAN) DANIELS (nee WILSON) Our loving wife, mum, nana, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2014 at the age of 73 years. She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Margaret Wilson and brother Vernon. She leaves to mourn her husband Ray of 49 years, her daughters Shelley, Sherry (Dean) and extended family Kurtis; grandchildren Logan, Kinnon and Ryland; brothers Edward (Bev), Chester (Barbara), sister Jacqueline (Jim); sister-in-law Thelma and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joan was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on July 29, 1940. In 1955, she immigrated with her family to Winnipeg. Joan worked many years at Eaton's until her marriage to Ray in 1965. Joan and Ray enjoyed many summers at the cottage in Ontario and warm winters in Arizona. Joan loved being outside gardening, enjoying her flowers, and feeding her deer. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Grace Hospital 3rd floor for their compassion and care for Mum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any animal charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place. • Although we only knew Joan for about 5 years, she made us feel like we have been neighbours at the lake for the last 25years. We will miss our morning coffees out on the deck, our many evening card games, and the many "happy hours" we spent together. She was always there if there was anything we needed and would even share her fabulous homemade perogies, cabbage rolls or sushi with us. Joan was like a mother to us, a grandmother to our children and a great-grandmother to our grandchildren. We will miss you "Madame Joan" - Posted by: Denis & Carole Laurin (friend) on: Jan 14, 2014

  • Everyone here in Ireland are saddened by the death of our dear cousin Joan fondly remembered. Patricia and Sam - Posted by: Patricia and Sam Armstrong ( Cousin Northern Ireland) on: Jan 14, 2014

  • I worked with Joan at Golden West Cententional Lodge, she was a loving fun lady. What I remember most was her beauty in and out. Always with her hair and makeup perfect. So sorry for your loss, hugs to all. - Posted by: Betty Puddicombe () on: Jan 13, 2014

  • JOAN WAS ONE OF THE MOST LOVING AND CARING LADIES YOU COULD KNOW. SHE ALWAYS HAD A SMILE ON HER FACE AND LOVE IN HER HEART AND ONLY KIND WORDS TO SAY. OUR PARK WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HER AS MRS. SANTA CLAUS, A ROLE SHE PLAYED WITH RAY EVERY CHRISTMAS EVE IN OUR CLUBHOUSE. NO ONE COULD OR WILL TAKE HER PLACE. MAY SHE BE AT PEACE IN HEAVEN. - Posted by: SOLOMA McELDERRY (FRIEND) on: Jan 11, 2014

  • I still remember when Ray and Joan moved to Antoine Avenue to become our next door neighbors. I occasionally babysat for them. I remember how Joan was always so much fun and how she embraced life and loved her family. My Mom and Dad (Irene and Lloyd Lee) spent many a happy hour and parties over the years. Joan, you were much too young to die. Our deepest sympathy to all of you from Irene Lee and Donna (Lee) Friesen. - Posted by: Donna Friesen (friend) on: Jan 11, 2014

  • Sorry to hear of Mrs. Daniels' passing. Darryl and I were just talking about all the fun we had, as kids at the cottage. My condolences to you, Mr. Daniels, Shelley and Sherry. - Posted by: Debbie Wionzek (Friend of family) on: Jan 11, 2014
