JAMES DUNCAN MORRISON 1950 ! 2014 Jim passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 3, 2014 after a two year battle with cancer. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ellen; his children Sharon (Barrett), Kathy, and Craig (Heather); his granddaughter Zoe; his brother Bill (Sue); his extended family and many close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Murdo and Jean Morrison. Born in Kenora, ON on August 2, 1950, Jim grew up in Winnipeg. He received his MSc in Physical Chemistry and his MBA from the University of Manitoba then joined Gulf Canada/ Petro Canada/ Suncor until retirement, at which time he joined the Fluid Life team for two years. Jim and Ellen married in 1974, lived in Winnipeg, then transferred to Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, and finally settled in St Albert. Jim was an avid athlete, playing hockey, baseball, and football. He was a member of the St Albert Men's Slow Pitch League and enjoyed playing on several teams, including over 10 years competing in the Huntsmen's World Senior Games in Utah. He supported and coached many of his children's sporting activities, was an active member of the Edmonton Nature Club, and was a passionate birder and nature photographer. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 18 at 2 p.m. at Howard & McBride Westlawn Chapel, 16310 Stony Plain Rd., Edmonton, AB (westlawnchapel.com).
