BOGDAN (BOB) NJEGOVAN May 8, 1928 - January 9, 2014 Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 85. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend held on until his family could rush to his side, assuring him that his 'babies' -- grandchildren Sarah, Anna, Vida, Milan and Moya -- would be infinitely loved in his absence. Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Mildred, and children Tom (Susanna) of Chicago, IL, Joan (Donal) of Maplewood, NJ, Donald of Toronto, ON and Patti (Darren) of Winnipeg, MB along with his brother George (Iris) of Flin Flon, MB and sister-in-law Sofija of Nis, Serbia. He leaves an array of nieces and nephews too large to name and a wide assortment of friends too sad for words. Born in the former Yugoslavia into a family of eight children, Bob endured hunger, poverty and the horrors of the Second World War, fighting for the Allies as a member of the Chetniks, a Serbian resistance group devoted to the end of Nazism and Communism. At war's end, he found his way to the United Kingdom, working in England's coal mines before seeking opportunity in Canada -- discovering his new life, and his wife, in remote Flin Flon, MB. Bob will be forever remembered as a generous, hard-working immigrant who gave all he had in pursuit of the Canadian Dream, declaring at every opportunity that he lived in the greatest country in the world. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16 at St. Peter and St. James Anglican Church, 74 Church St., Flin Flon, MB. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 15 at 6:00 p.m. at Dadson Funeral Home, 120 Hwy 10A W in Flin Flon. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada and in support of St. Petka Serbian Orthodox Church in Saskatoon, SK.
