Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JACK) R. KEILBACK July 24, 1922 - January 15, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather John (Jack) R. Keilback on January 15, 2014 at the Grace Hospital. Jack was 91 years of age. He was predeceased by his wife Paula and grandson Todd. Remaining to cherish his memory are son Brian (Lana), daughters Janet (Chris) and Brenda (Kevin), grandchildren Sandy, Chad, Jaclyn, Cameron, Robyn, and Erika. He will also be sadly missed by his brother Jim, sister Adele, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Jack was born in Cloverleaf, Manitoba to Louis and Mary Ann Keilback. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at the age of 21 and became a proud member of the Royal Air Force 115 Squadron in Witchford, England. During his tour in the Second World War, he flew 38 missions in the Lancaster, a plane he loved. On his return home from the war, he met and married the love of his life, Jonina (Paula) Jonasson. They were married for 49 years until her passing in 1997. Jack had a distinguished managerial career with Macleods which took him to Portage, Winkler, Swan River, Thunder Bay, and Winnipeg, where he retired as the manager of Macleod's print shop after 40 years of service to the day. Jack was a well respected member of each community in which he lived and was involved in the Red Cross and Kinsmen Club. Jack was a devoted family man who took great joy in his grandchildren. He would never miss and looked forward to all school recitals and ceremonies, hockey and soccer games, taekwondo, and dance recitals. He was the happiest when the whole family was together. The family would like to thank the staff of the Grace Hospital for their care and compassion. At Jack's request, there will be no formal service and cremation has taken place; a private interment will be held. There will be a celebration of Jack's life at the Charleswood Legion Branch #100, 6003 Roblin Blvd., Thursday, January 23 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. "Thank you Dad, you were always there for us, supporting us and cheering us on. We will forever love and miss you."

Dear Brenda, Joan and Kevin and the Keilback families: It was with sadness that we heard of the passing of your dear father and grandfather. We were sorry to be away and thus unable to attend the celebration of his life. He certainly lived a full and meaningful life and I know he will be deeply missed by each of you. Jack always laughed that he mistook me for Janet when we were in high school. To be fair, my back was turned and we both had long blond hair. He never forgot that mix up! When we traveled to Europe with Janet so many years ago, Jack was excited to give us Dutch currency he kept from the war. The bus driver in Amsterdam got very excited to learn we had money (no longer had value), that a liberator (Canadian) attained during the war - we were treated like heroes! - quite the welcome to Holland -compliments of Jack! - Posted by: Linda Grieve (Family Friend) on: Jan 22, 2014
