HENRY YACHISON August 10, 1928 - January 19, 2014 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Henry Yachison on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Henry will be remembered by his children Dean (Josie), Gary (Lena), Don (Diane), Jacqueline (Paul), and Wayne (Donna); siblings Pauline (Victor) and Mike; sister in-law Jane; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son David, and his brother Bill. His loving wife of 40 years, Anne Yachison, joined him in eternal peace five days after his passing, on January 24, 2014. Henry was born on August 10, 1928 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. At the age of 15 he joined the Norwegian Merchant Navy, serving as a cabin boy in the North Atlantic. After the war, Henry traveled throughout Canada working various jobs. Upon returning to Winnipeg, he studied to become an electrician; owning and operating Yachison Electric with his brother Mike until his retirement. Henry's true passion was his small farm in Grand Pointe from which he and Anne raised their family. The land harvested many fond memories, as it did vegetables. Known affectionately as Hank to close family and friends, he will forever be remembered for his compassion and generosity to whomever he met, as well as his tremendous work ethic and commitment towards whatever he did. The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks for the compassionate care they gave to our father. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. for both Henry and Anne Yachison at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Dean and Josie, We are praying for you and your family at this difficult time. I have wonderful memories of your parents out at the farm. We had some great times there. Your mom made sure I never went home hungry and I happily obliged whenever we were there. May God's grace and mercy be with you all. Karl and Laurie Loewen.
