DOROTHY GLEDHILL Dorothy Gledhill, aged 82, slipped away peacefully at Hospice House in Kelowna, BC on Friday morning, January 17, 2014, surrounded by family. She was born to the late Reginald and Gladys Youngest, November 15, 1931, in Halifax, Yorkshire, UK. She was married on October 25, 1952 to Raymond Gledhill, and they immigrated to Winnipeg MB in 1955, where they settled and started their family. In 2001, Dorothy and Ray relocated to Kelowna, BC. After finishing school in the UK, Dorothy did some modelling and was the winner of Neptune's Daughter Beauty Pagent in 1949. Upon moving to Winnipeg, she worked at the Tribune Newspaper, Paulin Chambers, and Wilson's Auto Electric where she made many friends. Mom loved to read, and loved crosswords. Tea was her beverage of choice. She had many accomplishments in her life, but her family was her most treasured. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 61 years, Raymond of Kelowna, her three children David Gledhill of Winnipeg, MB, Donna (Ray) Leclaire of Ile de Chenes, MB, John Gledhill of Anola, MB, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. She is also survived by her sisters Sylvia (Ray) Bell and Gloria (John) Firth and their families in the UK, and by her late brother Gordon's children Michael (Debbie) Youngest and Yvonne (Tadashi) Fukada and their families in BC. There are many other extended family members and a great deal of friends whom hold her dearly in their hearts. Dorothy loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was overjoyed around them. She truly loved her family and her family truly loved her. She will surely be missed and never, ever forgotten. Many great memories will be held dearly forever. We will all meet again one day. Our family would like to thank the staffs of Rutland Community Dialysis Unit, Kelowna Hospital, and Hospice House who cared for her, made her so comfortable, and showed her such love. As per mom's wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice House, Kelowna, BC. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.mem.com, click on stories and type in Dorothy Gledhill. Arrangements entrusted with First Memorial Funeral Services, Kelowna, BC (250) 762-2299.
