MICHEL (MIKE) DELEAU
Born: Feb 22, 1938
Date of Passing: Jan 19, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHEL (MIKE) DELEAU February 22, 1938 - January 19, 2014 Peacefully with his family by his side, Mike lost his battle with heart disease. He was predeceased in 2010 by his wife (Jackie) of 54 years and will be missed by his sons and grandchildren Bruno, Désirée and Nathaniel; Serge (Susan), Matthew, Jaimi, and Luc; and Marc, Justin, Branden, Danielle, and Vincent. Mike was born in Belgium and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1965 with his wife and two sons. His third son was born in Canada. Along with his immediate family and friends, his relatives living in Belgium will sadly miss Mike. Mike was a fun, friendly, and a generous person who would not hesitate to help out anyone in need. His greatest joy was to spend time in the company of people sharing good food, drinks, pastries and great laughs. Our sincere thanks go to the doctors and nurses at the Victoria Hospital (5th floor). Respecting Dad's wishes, cremation has already taken place and a private gathering is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or Finding Freedom.

Although it's hard to say goodbye so soon, it's good to know he is now at peace and no longer in pain. It was hard seeing Mike ill. I have only known him a few years (dating his grandson) but the first time I met him I already discovered how loving, caring, and humorous this man was. I'm very sad I never got to meet his wife but I have heard so many wonderful stories about Mike and his wife Jackie. Branden and I miss you very much, Mike. You were one of the coolest grandfathers I've ever met. I will forever honour your life and what you and your wife have done for your wonderful family. Love and miss you. - Posted by: Meggie Huston () on: Jan 25, 2014

Thinking of you Serge, Susan and Matt! I remember the support of Mike and Jackie at minor hockey when Matt and my son played together. May you rest in peace Mike and may the game of hockey be as good in Heaven! - Posted by: Gisele Mospanchuk (Hockey parent friends) on: Jan 23, 2014

Our sympathies go out to the whole Deleau family from the Bettens family. I remember working with Jackie when your parents first came here from Belgium. We remained connected later in life through hockey. Great memories. Beverley Bettens and family - Posted by: BeverBBBUUIIGXZBBeBeBe (FrieFriendnd) on: Jan 23, 2014

Sad to hear that Mike has gone. He was a kind and charming man and we are lucky to have known him. I'll always remember his subtle humour and our "ill fated" golf trip to Hecla Island. Our deepest condolences to the Deleau families. Dave Sikorski & Lisa Thorn - Posted by: Dave and Lisa Thorn (Friend) on: Jan 23, 2014
