Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERNA ELENORE MANN (nee GIRARD) It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our precious mom, Verna Elenore Mann, on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the age of 81. Our mom leaves behind her children to cherish her memory: Linda, Wayne, Beverley, Monica (Ivan), Gerri (Gene), Dale (Sandra), Maxine (Mark), Arlene (Dave), Donavon (Wendy), and Todd (Sarah); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; her close brother-in-law, Roy Wiebe; her auntie, Freda Bear; her special "sons" Gordon Hossack, Tom Beaudry, and Dennis Pangman; many friends, including those friends who held a special place in her heart: Irene Anderson, Terry Swampy, Louise Boulanger, Mickey and Al, Margret and Pete Bunn, Mary-Rose Abraham, and the Swampy family. Our mom also leaves behind her special kitty cats, Ginger Spice and Chicklets. Our mom was predeceased by our dad, William George, our brother Dennis Dwight, and her daughter-in-law Mary; her special companion, Germaine Swampy; and her dear friend, Dora Courchene, as well as many other loved ones. Our mom worked in health care for over forty years and was very dedicated to those she cared for and at times comforted those who were alone in their final moments. She treasured family gatherings with her children, shopping, and going out to her favourite restaurants. Our mom also enjoyed listening to old time fiddling music, watching square-dancing, and doing her daily word search puzzles. Our mom was a woman of beauty and grace. She lived her life with love and respect for all people, she was honest and truthful towards others, she was humble and recognized that there was a greater spiritual power, she exhibited courage in the face of life's difficulties and challenges, and she contributed wisely to the betterment of society. Our mom was always a very loving and kind woman, and those who were fortunate enough to meet her could be guaranteed to be greeted with a hug and a kiss. A two day traditional wake service will be held at the Saint Alexander Roman Catholic Parish on the Sagkeeng First Nation beginning Saturday, January 25, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. Prayer Vigil will be held on January 27 at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of the Resurrection on January 28, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Roman Catholic Parish, 847 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg. Internment at a later date. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Wayne Jr., and Vernon Mann; Shannon, Quenton, and Brennan Mann; Jordan Brown; Ryan Mann; and Grant Mann-Beaudry. Honorary pallbearers will be her sons-in-law: Ivan Hart, Gene Boubard, Mark Boulanger, and David Joe; nephew, Harold Bird; Gary and Gerry Swampy; and her God-son, Devon Wiebe. Our family wishes to acknowledge the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital who took great care of our mom, especially those dedicated staff who cared for her up to her final moments. Mom, we know your kids meant the world to you, and you know that you meant the world to us. Your legacy will live on through your kids and your grandkids, and we will forever carry the many teachings you leave with us. Don't worry; we will all be okay. Our hearts are broken now that you have left this world, yet we must go on and find joy in knowing that you finally get to be with the Lord. You will forever be the jewel in our family. Rest in paradise our Queen Mom. Faith, Hope, and Love, but the greatest of those is Love. 1 Corinthians 13:13

I first met Mrs. Mann through her daughter Monica, when I was a teenager living on Home Street in Winnipeg. Mrs. Mann was a gentle woman who had a Very Big Heart and always saw the good in people. I always had the greatest respect for her, she will be missed by all who new her. My heart is sad at this time, but I know that she is in a good place and at peace. To the family, my most profound condolence goes out to you. My deepest thoughts and prayers got out to each and every member of Mrs. Mann’s family.
