Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARJORIE TRAVES Passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2014, after a long illness at her nursing home, Kensington Gardens, in Toronto. Marge was born in Winnipeg on September 3, 1924, the daughter of Nathan Kay and Rose Grand Kay, and the sister of the late Eadie (Joe Ainemer). She lived in Winnipeg for many years and only moved to Toronto in 2008 to be cared for by her family. Marge was the loving and beloved wife of Sam Traves, who predeceased her in 1981. She will be deeply missed by her son Tom (Karen) and daughter Nancy (Bill). She was the proud grandmother of Will (Susan) and Julie, and the great-grandmother of Daniel. Unusual for women of her era, Marge enjoyed work over the years in a variety of positions. She possessed a keen intellect and was a lively personality. After the early death of her husband Sam, she was fortunate to be surrounded by many dear friends and family in Winnipeg. She enjoyed a rich life filled with work, travel around the world, mahjong games and cultural events with her friends, and frequent visits with her children. Her family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Kensington Gardens, and especially her personal care giver, Beth Rodrigo, who made her final years under difficult circumstances comfortable and dignified. Her funeral will take place on Monday, January 27 at the Etz Chayim Synagogue, 123 Matheson Ave. East, Winnipeg at 2:00 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to the Sam Traves Memorial Fund at the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba.

Losing Marge is very sad, it completes the family circle for that era. I am very happy that even though my daughters didn't get to meet my mom they did get to know Aunty Mary, Aunty Rowena and Aunty Marge (all very loving to my girls). When Breanne was in grade 7 she wrote an essay "Driving with Aunt Marge" and received a A+. The essay was so funny making everyone laugh except for Aunt Marge who defended her driving skills. It is sad that all of these great women have now left us and have moved on to be together once again. Marge you were wonderful to my family when we were kids and you gave my kids wonderful memories of family from your generation, Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. You will be missed dearly. Say hi to everyone when you get to the other side. - Posted by: Roslyn Saurette (2nd cousin) on: Jan 27, 2014
