SILVIO MENESES It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Silvio Meneses on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the age of 40. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Jacqui and daughter Abigail; parents Francisco and Maria Irene; maternal grandmother in Portugal; in-laws Jack and Shirley Bell as well as many extended family members and countless friends. Silvio was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, maternal grandfather, and sister Marcia. Silvio's fun loving personality allowed him to excel as a salesman. His enthusiasm and smile were infectious. People gravitated to Silvio, and simply loved being around him. In Silvio's short time with his beautiful daughter, they shared many special moments together. With the help of family and friends, Abigail will enjoy many pictures and stories of her daddy. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. A private family interment will follow at a later date. It has been many years since I saw this wonderful person and my heart hurts to know that he is gone so young. I can only smile when I think back to the best years of our high school lives and am sure happy that he crossed through mine. Silvio was such a happy person and made anyone around him feel the same. Thank you so very much for your presence in this world. My deep condolences to Silvio's wife Jacqui and little Abigail. May God grant you the strength to carry on through this difficult period and always keep Silvio's memory alive. Tonight from a distance I will light a candle in his memory. - Posted by: Mimi (Old School Friend) on: Feb 04, 2014

I first got to know Silvio when he started working for Kal Tire. It was difficult not to be overwhelmed by his smile and friendliness. He was such a big guy you really couldn't avoid him. He treated everyone like a best friend even if you just met him - saw the best in everyone and spoke all the time about his "new baby and beautiful wife". we went on to Vernon for a week for team building and he watched over everyone one of us like a dad. He would would decline dinners out to make sure he called home to his loves. This is the man I will remember. Deepest sympathies and best wishes moving forward. - Posted by: Nikki Thiessen (Ex Co-worker) on: Feb 01, 2014

We are saddened by Silvio’s passing. We wish to express our condolences to his daughter Abigail of whom he would continually declare his adoration and love. He would often refer to her as his “Little Angel”. We would also like to express our condolences to his loving and supportive wife Jacqui, his parents Francisco and Maria and his extended family. - Posted by: Elizabeth Arauz and Arles Berrios (friends ) on: Jan 31, 2014

I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Silvio's passing. I will never forget this curly haired, bright eyed boy with the biggest of smiles who told me he wasn't good in math. I loved teaching Silvio and his group of buddies and as a young teacher, they quickly became my first set of "teacher's pets". By letting you know how sad I feel, you will understand how special he was in my early years as a young teacher. I mention his name often to my colleagues and friends. The fact that he is no longer with us is heartbreaking. Blessings to his family. - Posted by: Corinne Davison (Teacher of Silvio in Gr 7 & 8) on: Jan 30, 2014

I did not know Silvio but was reading his obituary and noticed that he was younger me and felt sad that someone so loved by many was no gone. I just wanted to leave a few comforting words to his family and friends. I hope that this bible text provides some comfort now and some hope for the future. Take care. John 5:28,29-"Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life..." - Posted by: colin m () on: Jan 30, 2014

I have been thinking a lot about Silvio and growing up with him on Furby St. since I heard of his passing. There was a group of us that regularly got together and did the things kids did in those days, of course there was a little more street soccer than street hockey but what did you expect from a bunch of Portoguese guys and the "honorary chop" . Those were some of the golden days my friend, and I will always picture them when I think of you, God rest, and my condolences to your family......40 is far too young to be taken from them . - Posted by: Sean Cummings (Friend) on: Jan 30, 2014

I had befriended Silvio when he and his family first moved to Furby St. back in the 80s. He and I had shared many great moments throughout our childhood. Silvio would always comment on my bicycle at the time which was a replica of a "motocross bike", he thought the simulation gas tank, fenders and shocks were cool! I wish to offer my condolences to his family, we will all miss you Silvio. - Posted by: George Matos (Friend) on: Jan 30, 2014
