MEEUWES (MIKE) PEETSMA January 17, 1959 - January 28, 2014 Passed away peacefully at home on January 28, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. Beloved husband and best friend of Philippa Lowes. Survived by his son James (Kayla), stepsons Austin and Ryan, granddaughters Annika and Callie, his mother Trix, brothers John and Toni, stepmother Doreen, halfbrother Jason, stepbrother Jamie, stepsisters Karen and Susan, and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. He will also be fondly remembered and respected by his mother-in-law Renate, father-in-law David, sister-in-law Gaby (Richard), and many friends and colleagues. Mike was well-known in the community for bringing high speed internet to many parts of rural Southwestern Ontario through his inability to tolerate dial-up, thus Lightwave Wireless Internet Services was born. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the MELADY FUNERAL HOME, 572 Notre Dame St., Belle River, ON (519-728-1500) on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to ENT Research Fund c/o Henry Ford Hospital, Office of Philanthropy, 1 Ford Place - 5A, Detroit, MI 48202-3450; Hospice of Windsor, 6038 Empress St., Windsor, ON N8T 1B5; or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
