Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHRYN MARY MOFFAT LAWSON October 16, 1929 - January 25, 2014 Kay knew her "Time to Say Goodbye" was coming soon. She was getting weak. Hers was a full, rich life with loving friends and family; a cottage she built and gave life to at Pickerel Lake; and an ability to work in a capacity to help others in an interesting and satisfying career. Kay grew up in the large, lively household of Jessie and Archie Moffat on Leighton Avenue. She was number seven in the family of nine, with the distinction of having a twin sister. She attended Prince Edward and River East Collegiate before graduating from the Children's Hospital School of Nursing. Kay enjoyed sports and the outdoors participating in activities at the Kildonan Canoe Club. Here she met and married Bill Lawson in 1952. Daughter Janet Leslie was born in 1956. Kay nursed at the Children's Hospital and then transitioned to social work at the Municipal Hospital and then Health Sciences Rehabilitation Centre specializing in Rheumatology. Kay believed in life long learning, continually adding to her scope and credentials. Their family expanded in 1973 to include daughter Lai Ling Lai from Hong Kong. She was a pioneer as a career Mom, cottage builder, and computer geek. All the while with a beautiful smile and attitude of get-to-it-ness. She loved to be planning and doing. She was reflective but enjoyed an animated debate or discussion, a party to dress up for, a game of bridge and the company of family or friends. She was a caring, generous, strong character; with a sense of fun and style that influenced others.

I was a student in Social Work at the Rehab (HSc) on the 6th floor which was Rheumatology and Kay was the Social Worker. Kay gave me a great deal of experience in my first year of practice as a student. Kay was a great teacher. She was also a great person. - Posted by: Kathy Allen (I was a student in Social Work.) on: Feb 03, 2014

Kay Lawson as I knew her, gave me my first experience in social work at Municipal Hospitals many years ago. This led to 29 years of great experiences for the next 29 years in the health care field in Winnipeg. Kay was always helpful and supportive, and much appreciated by staff and co-workers. - Posted by: CharlottejjCharlotte RedccHARLOTTE () on: Feb 03, 2014
