LAURA (ALICE) BOWLER (BLAIR) Peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2014 Alice Bowler of Manitou passed away at the Prairie View Lodge, Pilot Mound at the age of 95 years. Alice was born October 10, 1918 at Windygates, MB to Quinton and Laura (Barnhart) Blair. On December 7, 1940, she married Ralph Bowler. They made their homes in Manitou, Snowflake, and Winnipeg. They were blessed with two sons, Ralph Wayne, born in 1942 and Ronald Lyle in 1946. Unfortunately accidents took their lives at a prime age. During their 67 years of marriage they were able to travel "coast to coast" in Canada, many U.S. states, Hawaii, and Mexico. While living in Winnipeg Alice worked many years at T. Eaton. Retirement sent them back to Manitou. Going to fiddling contests and dancing became their passion. She was proud to be a member of the "Polka Lovers of America". Alice was predeceased by her loving husband Ralph in 2008, sons Lyle in 1968, and Wayne in 1972, her parents, sister Verna (Tom) Kingston, and brother Earl (Vicki) Blair. She will be missed by her Bowler and Blair nieces and nephews, special niece Joyce Maxwell and her special family Don and Linda Stewart and boys. A heartfelt "Thank You" to the staff at Prairie View Lodge for the excellent care she received while living there. As per her wishes, a graveside ash interment will take place in the Spring at Manitou Cemetery with Kevin Stewart as urn bearer. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alice may be made to the Manitou Cemetery or to a charity of one's own choice. Wheatland Funeral Service (204) 825-2848 - www.wheatlandfs.com
