EDWARD HUTNEY Vladimir Edward Hutney passed away in Calgary on January 26, 2014, at the age of 88. He was born on a farm near Glenella, Manitoba where he spent his early youth. He joined the RCAF in 1943 and spent some time in England as a radio technician. When he returned from the war, he worked as a radio technician tracing earth-launched satellites, first on Cape Canaveral, then Grand Turk Island in the Caribbean followed by the DEW line in Alaska. Upon returning to Canada, he worked for Philips Electronics, installing and servicing X-ray equipment at hospitals and clinics. He lived for a few years in Ottawa, then spent the rest of his working years in Winnipeg. When he retired from Philips, he moved to the Glenella farm for two years and then relocated to Calgary. In Calgary he made use of his electronic knowledge enjoying computers, the internet and all that that involves. He was not married. He leaves behind two sisters: Margaret in Thunder Bay, ON and Diana in Kimberley, BC and two brothers, Conrad and his wife Vera, in Calgary, AB and Gerry, in Wesley Chapel, Florida. He was predeceased by six sisters and two brothers. A private family memorial service and interment at Mountain View Memorial Gardens will be held at a later date.
