PETER MCARTHUR It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter McArthur, peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2014. Peter is survived by his sons, Ian, Scott and Kevin (Laura); and his grandchildren, Meghan Rose, Kennedy Blayne, and Cooper James. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley McArthur (nee Stewart). Peter was born June 14, 1932 in Alexandria, Scotland. He immigrated to Canada in 1958, initially to Montreal, and then made a move to Winnipeg for a new job working with Siemens. Following that, he married his wife Shirley. He then changed employment to Greyhound Lines of Canada for 25 plus years and earned a one million mile (driving) award with the organization. His last occupation prior to retirement was with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Cremation has taken place and per his wishes, a service will not be held. Special thanks to the dedicated nurses of Seven Oaks General Hospital dialysis unit, Charleswood Care Home employees, and for assistance from friends and family during his latter days. If you wish to contribute a memorial, donations may be made in Peter's memory to The Kidney Foundation of Canada - Manitoba Branch, 1-452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3Y 1G4 or online at www.kidney.ca.

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • I met Peter at the dialysis ward at SOGH when I would go there as a clown (Crackers). We quickly formed a friendship. Peter's sense of humour was a joy-often making the clown laugh. We shared many stories about Scotland & other things, he spoke often of his sons and grandchildren. I always looked forward to seeing him on the days I would be at the hospital or visiting him at the PCH. I will miss him. My deepest condolences to the family. - Posted by: Judy Whitaker (Clown at SOGH (Friend)) on: Feb 06, 2014
