ARVID WONNECK Peacefully, and with family at his side, we announce the passing of Arvid Wonneck on Sunday, February 2, 2014. He was born August 13, 1923 in Jelgawa, Latvia to Daniel and Alwine Wonneck. Dad and his family immigrated to Saskatchewan in 1926. He and his four sisters were raised on a farm near Antler, Saskatchewan and Dad later moved to work in Winnipeg. He met Margaret Weiss and they married in Winnipeg in 1954. Dad is predeceased by his two sisters, Ida and Frieda, three brothers-in-law, Adolf, Ed and Alfred, daughter-in-law Sue, and grandchild Andrew. He is survived by his wife, three children, Karen (John), Ron (Beth), Mark, six grandchildren, Matthew (Paleah), Neta, Paul, Carolyn, Luke and Aidan, and one great-grandchild, Faelan. Also left to mourn are his two sisters, Elsie and Nora (Ron). The family is grateful for the compassionate and dedicated care provided by the staff at Victoria General Hospital, particularly the nurses and aides on the 5th floor and Doctors Cavers and Bouchel. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. Flowers are graciously declined.
