FRANCES (NAN) INEZ DAVIDSON Peacefully on February 2, 2014 in her 104th year. Left to cherish her memory are her son Don (Cathy), her granddaughters Cara (Ian) and Cheryl (Jeff), and her great-grandchildren Evan and Sophie. She was predeceased by Earl (her husband of almost 60 years), brother Frank, sister Marion "Babe", and a favourite visitor, her granddog Kaysie. Nan was extremely proud of her family and a visit from any one of them would make her entire day complete. She devoted many hours to knitting beautiful clothes for her granddaughters and loved to spoil us all with homemade treats. Her happiest hours were simply spent with Earl in their own back yard tending the garden and chatting with neighbours over the fence. She walked everywhere, thinking nothing of going all the way downtown from Downing Street when she was in her 80s. Nan endeared herself to all she met. She was truly a people person. Nan's family would like to thank the remarkable staff at River East Personal Care Home for their exemplary kindness and loving care, especially during these last few months. As was Mom's request, cremation has taken place. A reception to celebrate Nan's life will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. All friends are welcome to join family to share remembrances. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of their choice. Mrs. D. was my Mom, Elsie Sancan's best friend and neighbour from the 40's to the 60's. As families we shared vacations and holiday celebrations with other friends on Downing Street. Mrs. D. was a kind, sweet person. When she was in her 90's and I visited with my husband Ron, she was as spry and happy as ever. She had us for coffee and on her tray of many baked goodies were shortbread. I asked her why she had baked shortbread in the summer. "Because butter was on sale and Ron likes shortbread!" She will be remembered fondly. - Posted by: Dianne Johnson (Neighbor and friend) on: Feb 14, 2014

We are so sorry to hear of Aunty Nanc. She was a very special person. The attitude she had towards life was awesome. In our years we never heard her complain about anything. We have many memories of her that will always remain in our hearts. - Posted by: David and Virginia Low (nephew and niece) on: Feb 08, 2014
