KATY TENA SYCH (SITARZ) March 22, 1925 - February 7, 2014 With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Kay Sych on Friday, February 7, 2014 at the age of 88 years. Kay was predeceased by her husband Walter of 58 years, parents Anthony and Maria Sitarz, brothers Casmir, Walter, John, Edward, Charles and son-in-law, Brian McGurk. Kay will be lovingly remembered by her sons Edward (Linda), Brian (Caren), daughter Marilyn, grandchildren Jared (Bre), Kyle (Tracy), Ian (Pamela), Shane (Heather), Brett, Kristen (Steve), Brandon, Drew and great-grandchildren Cailin, Harrison, Keegan, Ethan and step great-grandchildren Shawnee, Taylor. Kay is also survived by her sisters Francis Zinnick, Anne (Mike) Lucko, Mary Hammerling, brothers Tony (Pat) Sitarz, Joe (Beverley) Sitarz, and numerous nieces and nephews. Kay was born on March 22, 1925 in Melrose, Manitoba and was raised on the family homestead with her eleven brothers and sisters. In her late teens, Kay moved to Winnipeg where she married her husband Walter and together raised their family. Kay worked at Eatons for several years and retired in 1986. Kay always recounted the experiences of growing up with her siblings on the homestead and continued to enjoy spending time and conversing with them throughout the years. Following her retirement, Kay enjoyed spending time at the cottage in Lac Du Bonnet where many family memories will be treasured. Kay also enjoyed cooking, gardening and being outdoors. She was a devoted mother and was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their accomplishments. Kay was loving, caring and compassionate and put others before herself in every aspect of her life. Her memory will forever live in our hearts. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Parish, 264 Donwood Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R2G OW5. Visitation at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Society Manitoba, Ste. 7-414 Westmount Dr., Winnipeg, MB, R2J 1P2. Rest in Peace in the Arms of our Lord.
