CAROL BEVERLY MAY (BEV) REIMER (nee SCHULTZ) On Sunday, February 9, 2014, Bev passed away peacefully at home in her sleep at the age of 62. Bev leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Jim; daughters Lori (Don) Friesen and Kristin (Stephan) Kress; grandsons Jacob and Jasper Kress. She will be lovingly remembered by her brothers Ron Schultz, Leonard (Sandra) Schultz and Lorne (Cathy) Schultz as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Bev was predeceased by her mom Eva in 1981, her dad Alex in 2001 and stepmom Alma in early 2014. Bev was born in Steinbach on May 23, 1951, the third child of Alex and Eva Schultz. When Bev was about seven years old, the family moved to Winnipeg, first to a house on Weatherdon Avenue and about a year later to 1824 Midmar Avenue. Bev played on her high school volleyball team and graduated from St. James Collegiate in June, 1969. Shortly before graduation, at 17, she began dating her close friend's older brother Jim Reimer. The Reimer family lived across the street at 1819 Midmar. Jim and Bev attended young peoples' as well as Sunday services together at Weston Gospel Church in Winnipeg. Their friendship and love blossomed and they were married on October 23, 1971. They lived in the small upstairs apartment of a house on Banning Street. Bev worked for MTS during those early years of their marriage. In early 1977 they moved 15 minutes north of Winnipeg to St. Andrews where they had just finished building their first house. That June they welcomed daughter Lori and in November 1978, daughter Kristin. Bev treasured and enjoyed her family. She was a wonderful wife and mom who both laughed and loved. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom when her kids were little and she kept us all well fed with her tasty meals and delicious baking. Bev liked to travel and particularly enjoyed the annual family camping trips to Blue Lake. Once the girls were in school all day, Bev started working part-time at Superstore where she made some great friends - friends with whom she would travel annually on shopping trips to Grand Forks and Fargo. Bev retired in 2012 after 27 years of service. Bev was excited to retire as this meant she had more time to spend with her grandsons. Bev was always happy to babysit and take the boys on outings. She made birthday cakes and took Jacob to swimming lessons. Jacob and Jasper were always excited to hear the doorbell ring, and when they did, they'd shout, "Grandma!" with big smiles on their faces. Bev was truly a blessing to all who met her and she will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2014, Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. Funeral Home and Crematorium 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
