LINDA KATHLEEN PINK June 1, 1962 February 8, 2014 It is with much sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Pink after a valiant and courageous 10 month battle with cancer. Linda was born in Winnipeg and spent much of her life in the River Heights and St. James areas where she grew up and went to school. Following in family footsteps, she always had a love for music and played both the piano and saxophone. She was artistic in many other areas as well, as was evident almost anywhere you looked in her home. She could swing a hammer, wire a light or saw a board alongside the best of handymen. And she was also blessed with an amazing green thumb and enjoyed spending time in her wonderful yard and garden. Linda loved her family, friends and home in Winnipeg but in 2007 she met the love of her life, Michael Santucci, and relocated to Chicago where they were married soon after. There she quickly put down new roots, made many new friends and found much joy and happiness in her remaining years. Linda was always one to embrace life fully and her beautiful smile, quick wit and positive energy could light up a room. She had a large and caring heart with seemingly endless room for her family and countless friends that she loved so dearly. When the ugly spectre of cancer came knocking last year it was never a match for, nor could ever defeat, her defiant and positive spirit. Despite her diagnosis she remained caring and concerned for those she would too soon have to leave and she tried to put all at ease with her illness. Her courage and determination throughout her battle were inspirational. Left to cherish Linda's memory are her beloved husband Michael Santucci; son Christopher Pink; stepson Chris Santucci; her mother Joan; brothers Raymond (Berlinda) and Larry; sister Barbara Pink (Tim Verry); sisters-in-law Gayle (John Connors) and Joan Santucci; nephews Ron (Jenn) and Sam Pink along with Eric, Adam and Colin Rhodes; Sophia Naimi; Kayla Kowerko and Linda's much adored grandson Odin; as well as many other loving relatives and friends. Linda was predeceased by her father Ken and nephew Michael Pink. The family wishes to thank Dr. Melissa Johnson, oncologist, and the many other exceptional doctors and staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago for their kind and compassionate care. A special acknowledgement also to the many good friends who provided love and support in her final days, some having travelled great distances to be with her. As per Linda's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Linda's life is being planned for March 29 in Winnipeg; and for April 12 in Chicago. A further announcement will be posted once details are finalized. Flowers are graciously declined. Those wishing to donate are directed to SMAC! (Sock Monkeys Against Cancer) at www.smacancer.com) with designation "In Memory of Linda Pink"; or to the Canadian Cancer Society with designation to "Lung Cancer Research".
