Date of Passing: Feb 15, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADOLF HEINZ MARSCHALL On February 15, 2014, at Grace Hospice, Adolf Marschall passed away peacefully at the age of 77 years. Adolf was a loving husband to Sylvia; caring father to Johnny (Lorlie), Janet (Chris), Tina (Brad), and a wonderful Opa to Desiree, Julian, Connor, Kaitlin and Dakota. Adolf was predeceased by his first wife, Lilly in 1966. He will be fondly remembered and missed by his family, siblings and many, many friends and neighbours. Adolf was born in Gross Ottlau, Germany in 1936 to Otto and Frieda Marschall. His brothers and sisters were Waltraut, Friedl, Harold, Gerhart, Oskar, Ingeborg, Hanna, Helga and Klaus. He and his family immigrated to Canada in 1953 on the Beaverbrae from Bremen, Germany. Adolf worked at a farm in Emerson before moving to Winnipeg where he was employed by City Meats and then at Safeway until retiring. He returned to Germany to vacation often and travelled in his customized van to visit his family in Kelowna, Colorado and California. Dad was always working and gladly lent his strong hands to his friends in the city and at the beach. He was a member of The German Society of Winnipeg and tirelessly volunteered at the bratwurst booth during Folklorama. Dad's happiest times were spent at Camp Neustadt, loudly playing his favourite music, cooking for family barbeques and having fun with his grandchildren. He would always keep loonies on hand for each grandchild. Adolf's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital and especially Grace Hospice for their care and kindness. Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street with a gathering and toast to follow at The German Society of Winnipeg, 121 Charles Street. We had such a good time with Adolf every time we saw him, especially during World Cup 2010. We were looking forward to 'cracking open the van' and tailgating again for it this year. He even let me drive it!? Our deepest symapathies to the Marschall family, his smiling face will be missed by all who knew him.
