Irene was predeceased by her parents Frieda (Neumann) and Emil Plato and her brother Theo. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Heinrich, of 54 years, daughters Anita and Barbara, and son Roland. Irene was born in Zhitomir, Ukraine and grew up in Bayerisch Gmain, Germany. In 1956 she immigrated to Winnipeg with her family. Irene and Heinrich married in 1959 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church where they were both deeply involved in the congregational life of the church. Irene retired from Reimer Express Lines, after a long and fulfilling career that spanned 25 years. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 28 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church at 65 Walnut and Wolseley. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and staff of Health Sciences Centre, Victoria General Hospital and St. Boniface General Hospital, who provided such excellent care and support throughout. I have known Henry & Irene almost my entire life. My parents at one time were also active members of St Peter's Church and that's how I got to know them. I actually looked after their kids quite often. Irene was a very special person. She will be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences go out to Henry, Barbara, Roland & Anita. May you all feel God's presence during this difficult time. - Posted by: Angela (family friend) on: Feb 26, 2014

Irene and met only twice but the Schott family will remain a lasting memory. They were sterling Menschen, cultured, well-spoken and decent to the core; timeless. Daughter Barbara is unusually gifted, epitomizing noblesse oblige; a tribute to humanity. You, Irene, will be missed for every good reason.
