SHIRLEY WOWCZUK Peacefully on Saturday March 1, 2014 Shirley Wowczuk passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. Shirley was predeceased by her father John Panchuk and mother-in-law, Nellie Wowczuk. She is survived by her husband, Boris; son, Stephen; mother, Annie Panchuk; sister, Terry Klimchak (Dmetro); father-in-law, Walter Wowczuk; brother-in-law, Bohdan Wowczuk (Diane); sister-in-law Theresa Friesen (Neil); sister-in-law Joanne Wowczuk; aunt Della Kupchuk of Winnipeg; aunt Jenny Panchuk of Edmonton; two nieces and many cousins. Shirley was born on December 12, 1953 at Concordia Hospital. Upon graduation from Technical Vocational High School she worked at the Manitoba Highways Department. Later on she worked at various secretarial positions at St. Boniface Hospital. Shirley also studied and received her certificate as an administrative assistant through the University of Toronto correspondence studies. Shirley married the love of her life Boris, on September 3, 1983. She enjoyed being a wife and mother with a passion for cooking and collecting many recipe books throughout her life. She also had a talent for crafts, enjoying hobbies such as crocheting, knitting and ceramics. Shirley was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church and enjoyed the traditions of the Ukrainian Catholic faith. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. with Fr. Z. Shwaluk, OSBM officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Shirley's memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, or to CancerCare Manitoba.
